If you’re not familiar with Luke Wessman’s work from Miami Ink, or from his downtown shop, Lucky’s Tattoo Parlor, his Southern California/Latin style is classic, free-flowing, heartfelt and badass — all mashed together. His paintings reflect a similar vibe as his ink. Not only that, but he’s got a great story, and is a testament to all of us out there trying to follow our dreams and make it on our own.
It took, “7 months of hard labor,” plus all the “money, blood, sweat and tears,” he could give to build the new shop. Check out the amazing transformation of a rundown coffee shop turned tattoo parlor via before-and-after photos of on his website.
This is an event about art, about community, about Vodka, even. But the underlying theme is that all that stuff we’ve heard is true: Put your mind to it & you can do anything. Self-Motivated, Self-Taught, Self-Reliant: Self Made. With a little help from friends along the way… Including a good friend to TheMixster.com, J Feather of Art Kills Artists, who actually put this event together, and who’s been working endlessly to make sure that the whole night will be just perfect.
Now go self-make yourself check it out!
